David was in town and he brought Mia so we invited ourselves to dinner. We all met up at Babe's Fried Chicken in Cedar Hill. That place has some seriously good chicken!
After dinner, we went back to Mom & Dad's and Dad took Mia fishing in the pond across from their house. She was so excited. On the way over to the pond, she was chanting 'we're going fishing, we're going fishing, na na na na na na'.
Dad baited the hook and cast the line and Mia's waiting for her fish.
She was very patient.
John & David hanging out waiting for something exciting to happen. They didn't have to wait too long...
Mia caught her first fish! This pond is catch and release so they threw Cromie back. That's what Mia named the fish - Cromie. One of Mia's questions for Pop pop was 'Why aren't we going to eat him?"
Once she realized that these weren't "eatin'" fish, she was determined to name all the fish in the pond. So, Pop pop re-baited her hook and cast the line.
After that she got lots of bites but no catches. Here, David's helping her bait the hook.
The last worm of the day. David & Mia gave it one more shot to see if they could catch fish number 2. Unfortunately, the fish figured out how to eat the worm and move on. Still, not bad for a first timer!
This last photo I thought was sweet. They look very companionable out there by themselves.
Below are some of the videos we took. The first is Pop pop showing Mia how to cast the line. The second is where she catches the fish
